Mr. Steeves recently retired following a proud and distinguished career in municipal government having served as the director of Transit & Parking Services and director of Administrative Services with the city of Fredericton, New Brunswick. He also served as project executive (investment) in economic development – Enterprise Fredericton where he played an integral role liaising with the provincial government attracting new national and international firms to the greater Fredericton area. He also served as a commissioner of oaths for the Province of New Brunswick.

The highlight of Mr. Steeves' years of volunteering was the recent recognition, by Rotary International, with the presentation of the esteemed Paul Harris Fellowship Award.

In his spare time, he has also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Riverview Fire-Rescue, auxiliary constable with the New Brunswick Highway Patrol; past-president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters; board of directors with Jobs Unlimited – an employment agency for physically and mentally challenged adults; chair of the United Way campaign; Santa Claus for 32 years visiting children's wards in hospital, senior citizen manors, Transition House, etc; a provincially licensed and bonded auctioneer for 28 years conducting dozens of fund-raising auctions yearly that raised several hundred thousand dollars for local charities and service clubs. During the winter months, he continues to serve as the voluntary coordinator of the New Brunswick Picnic in St. Petersburg, Florida.
