On July 13, 2006, the manager of the Rainbow Esso Gas Station, located at 2688 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, discovered a new skimming device on one of the stations pumps. A device/chip had been inserted into the pump's card reader to capture the card information. At the same time a gel pad overlay had been placed on top of the pumps number pad to capture the PIN number. This gel pad overlay appeared so genuine that it was only discovered during the subsequent maintenance on the pump. The technician dispatched to dismantle the reader system, discovered that the gel pad, noting that it had a softer texture than normal.

This particular Esso station is closed between midnight and 6 am. It is believed that the devices were installed at some point during this time period.
