Patricia, Chris, Paula and I are just leaving Newfoundland – reluctantly. This was my first trip to Newfoundland and we will all, definitely, be going back. The history, the rugged coastline, the scenery, but mostly the people, make this a magical place to visit and our meagre four days were just a tiny taste of the possibilities.

The special occasion required to dig me out of the office during our Early Bird season was Hazen and June Walters' 50th wedding anniversary, and what a great Newfoundland party it was. Instead of the typical escape to a holiday destination, Hazen and June decided to rent a theatre and invite three great performers (Tom Leadbeater, John Bressler and Shawn Wiseman) to put on a show for all of their friends. And, of course, there was a little food and a light libation or two. This is Newfoundland after all, not South Carolina.

Hazen was one of the early directors and, subsequently, the treasurer of the Canadian Snowbird Association. On his retirement, again, Medipac hired him and his wonderful wife, June, to be our Directors of Seniors' Affairs in the southern U.S. Hazen and June have spent thousands of hours and many, many months travelling across both Canada and the United States as a critical component of our Medipac "show team." Last year, they were both awarded the President's Award of Excellence in recognition of their vital contribution and role within our corporate group.

So, if you happen to see one of these wonderful people in your travels, make sure that you wish them a happy 50th anniversary and many more to come. And a special hello to all of those gracious people who took such good care of us on the "Rock."

Sincerely,
J. Ross Quigley.
