Nuts and seeds OK for diverticulosis? Apparently so, according to a study conducted by the University of Washington. The study, which began in 1986, followed 47,454 diverticulosis-free men over the course of 18 years. Research showed that the consumption of nuts and seeds had no effect on the chances of developing the condition.

Surprisingly, the study also found that popcorn may actually reduce the risk of diverticulosis. However, it is still too early to recommend popcorn as a preventive measure.
