Take a Proactive Approach to Avoiding Varicose Veins

You can prevent varicose and spider veins from forming and from growing by taking a few simple steps that will ultimately benefit your overall health.

By losing weight, you reduce the amount of strain on your legs. Exercise, and you will improve your blood circulation and prevent the pooling of blood. Wear compression socks and support hose to assist circulation. Don't sit or stand in one position for too long. Lie down for a few minutes and elevate your feet above your heart. Flex your ankles periodically to help pump the blood out of your legs. All of these steps will help prevent the development of new varicose veins and the growth of existing ones.

It is also recommended that you avoid wearing tight-fitting clothing and high-heeled shoes, but we will leave the choice to sacrifice for fashion up to you.
