Keep Your Purse & Wallet Safe

Don't be a victim of theft! Grocery stores, restaurants and unattended vehicles are just a few of the common places in which crooks lie in wait of their next prey. By following this simple advice, you can keep your belongings safe at all times.
  •  In restaurants and bars, don't leave your bags over the back of the chair. Keep all of your personal belongings on the floor between your feet or hooked under the front leg of a chair.
  • In public washrooms, do not hook your purse on the door or leave your purse loose on the floor. Keep it hooked between your feet on the floor or wear it cross-ways over your shoulder.
  • While shopping, never leave your purse or wallet unattended in a shopping cart.
  • Never leave your purse or wallet in an unattended vehicle (this includes leaving valuable items in the trunk).
  • If in a wheelchair or mobility scooter, keep your purse or wallet close to your body and not hooked on the back of the chair or in a front basket.
  • Carry your wallet in a front pocket or an inside coat pocket.
  • If possible, keep your keys separate from your purse.
  • Keep cash at a minimum and do not carry your social insurance card in your wallet or purse.
There are many products on the market to help keep your belongings safe. Purse hooks and chains are very handy for keeping your purse off the floor and close to your body. For those who are particularly concerned about theft, products such as the slash-proof neck pouch and secret compartment leather belt will no doubt keep your valuables safely hidden from view.
