  • Your computer cannot get infected simply by displaying an e-mail message. Nor can even the most virulent virus destroy the electronic circuitry of your processor.
  • Seventy per cent of virus writers work under contract for organized crime syndicates.
  • A virus cannot appear on your computer all by itself. You have to get it by sharing infected files or diskettes, or by downloading infected files from the Internet.
  • The first computer virus was "Elk Cloner." It was created in 1982 on an Apple II computer by a 15-year old boy.
