Travel insurance policy wordings frequently change from year to year, and changes are often significant. We recommend that you read your most current policy carefully to understand your benefits. A real example of these changes follows and, if you are affected by these amendments and have not received your notification, call your Blue Cross office immediately:

Atlantic Blue Cross Care has announced the following changes to their “Select Plan” effective June 1, 2004.

Travel Exclusions and Limitations
The following is being added to this section:

  • This benefit terminates at age 80 for each participant.
  • Trip duration is limited to 180 days per trip outside of your province of residence.
  • Additionally, Atlantic Blue Cross Care will not pay for any benefit or accept any liability for claims, regardless of age, if you have ever been diagnosed with any cardiovascular conditions indicated below, for which you are currently on prescribed medications other than anticoagulant therapy, OR if your cardiovascular condition has deteriorated, required hospitalization or required a change/addition in prescription medication within the past six (6) months immediately prior to the departure date of your trip.

Peripheral Vascular Disease
Permanent Defibrillator
Heart Transplant
Angina
Aneurism
