CSANews: Fast Facts

Fall 2001 CSANews Issue 40  |  Posted date : Apr 01, 2007.Back to list

Dear Bird Talk,

The item: "Canada Trust MasterCard (travel medical insurance) Bites The Dust," based on the information I have, is only partly true. The CTMasterCard operation is now owned and operated by Citibank. Their current "Gold Plus" Cardholder Agreement reads, "Insured Person also includes an eligible Cardmember 66 years of age or older, his or her spouse 66 years of age, and their eligible dependent children when travelling with either, and one travelling companion 66 years of age or older if your account was opened on or before November 29th 1998".

For your info & to satisfy CSANews' penchant for accuracy!

Yours Truly,
Ken Powell

P.S. This confirmation by Citibank, now (for us) makes CSA's Medipac single-trip insurance a likely choice.

Response:
We have had several similar messages from members and, after checking with Citibank, you are all absolutely correct. A "Grandfather Clause" was included in the sale from Canada Trust. Unfortunately Citibank is not accepting applications for new cards.
