You Are Far Too Nice!

Summer 2001 CSANews Issue 39  |  Posted date : Mar 09, 2007.Back to list

When you called this toll-free number 1-877-633-4722, to order the CSA table placemats for that pot-luck dinner, picnic, Canada Day, sports tournament or whatever else you're planning or simply attending this winter in the sunbelt you were far too nice!

Why? Well, in most cases, the first thing you hear is a "voice-mail message" that's a more modern and polite way of saying "telephone answering machine!" If you're like me, you probably hate talking to these things so you hang up, and probably quietly mutter "darn machines" or something close to this. But most of you don't! It just proves that we seniors are modernized and/or we know how to cope with this age of high-tech gizmos. I get very few hang-ups and most messages are very polite and clear and that makes my job so much easier, so thank you for being so nice.

For those of you who don't know, the above number gets you to my home-office in Auburndale/Lakeland, Florida this is the official headquarters for our placemat program that has been so successful. So if you reach my voice-mail instead of the real me, I'm probably on the golf course or taking a nap. For those of you who don't know about our placemat program (they contain the words to O Canada and the Star Spangled Banner) but would like to, please give me a call. You just might wake me up! By the way, the placemats are not available until November and will be mailed to your sunbelt address.

Event calendar:

Last winter I received many phone calls asking if I had a "Canadian events calendar" for snowbirds in the sunbelt. If you are interested in "getting the word out" about a special event for your Canada Club, etc., please let me know by providing the name, date, time, location, etc., including the name and phone number of the person in Canada and/or the sunbelt who can be contacted for further information. I'll keep a "master file" on hand and, hopefully (if I hear from enough of you), I'll be able to convince the folks at CSA News that they should consider publishing such a calendar. Send the information to me at 222 Golf View Drive. Auburndale, FL 33823-5616. Or if you don't mind speaking to a machine, call me at the above number. Hopefully we can get it started in the fall issue.

Winter rentals:

I've also heard from quite a few people who want to rent a home, apartment, condo, etc., for their winter stay in the sunbelt. This is another area about which I need information so, if you have a rental residence of some kind available, please let me know.

Now that I've told you about my phone system I guess I won't be "napping" as much, right?
