Medipac International and the Canadian Snowbird Association lost a close friend and colleague last month. We are sad to share the sombre news with readers of CSA News that Derek Morrison of Medipac Communications passed away on July 8th, as a result of complications from vasculitis and diabetes.

Derek joined Medipac as a vice-president in October 1994 and was instrumental in the development of our Snowbird Extravaganza shows in Florida, Arizona, Texas, California and Toronto. Prior to joining Medipac, Derek spent approximately 16 years in advertising sales and another three years developing and managing 50+ lifestyle consumer shows.

He was married for 40 years to his lovely wife Mona and resided in Mississauga while they raised their family. Derek was born and raised in Greenock, Scotland (a large shipbuilding community) and was one of three children. He spent eight years with the British Mercantile Marines before arriving in Canada in 1957.

All of us will greatly miss Derek's professionalism, friendship, compassion and sense of humour. Our deepest sympathies to Mona, their three children Andrew, Shirley-Ann and Colin, and the grandchildren.
