Executive Director's Report Issue 38

Spring 2001 CSANews Issue 38  |  Posted date : Mar 08, 2007.Back to list

Many members will miss the familiar and friendly voices of Elizabeth Duguay and Jean Thomson. Jean and Elizabeth worked very hard for you over the years, and left the office at the end of December. Although it is not easy to replace two such wonderful team members, we are very fortunate to have Bonnie Donovan join our Call Centre staff. Bonnie is hard working, full of energy and has a wonderful sense of humour. I am sure the members will enjoy speaking with her.

We are also very lucky to have Barbara Moss join the CSA as our researcher/public relations advisor. Barb has a very strong background in snowbird issues and is a wonderful writer. It was great having a staff person 'hit the ground running' when she started with the association in February. She has already made inroads with the national media, and is improving our networks with all the provincial governments.

The CSA staff has become more involved in aspects of advocacy, aiding in the daily monitoring of the national media so that we can keep apprised of the issues that impact upon our members. The Government Relations Committee has kept us busy monitoring the various elections, budgets and other national stories making sure that your best interests and rights are kept at the forefront of political discussion.

In the next few months, we will work towards the establishment of a Traveller's Bill of Rights for the CSA. In concrete terms, this bill will provide the association with a pillar to support our common objectives. This project will involve and impact upon all the various committees of the CSA.

I would like to thank the CSA members who take the time to contact me with regard to issues that have arisen in their provinces or on their travels. Your calls and input are invaluable, and I would ask that you continue to relate your concerns to us.

From the CSA staff: Gabe, Celine, Barb, Bonnie and Heather, we hope that you have a wonderful spring and summer season.
