In the blink of an eye, the Christmas holiday season will be past and we will enter a new millennium. The crackpots will be predicting the end of the world, while we normal folks can look forward to a new era. It is natural to look back at the past 100 years, and we have done just that on page 27, but I find this also to be a time of anticipation and change.

The advances in technology and medicine are working in our favour and we will undoubtedly lead longer and healthier lives. It is up to us to take full advantage of the wonderful opportunities that the millennium will present to us. Let's kick our bad habits, let's do new and different things, let's go places we have never been but, most of all, let's truly appreciate our friends and loved ones and show it. They are our millennium partners and, together, anything is possible.

Sincerely,
J. Ross Quigley
