Making Your Home Safer
The Home Adaptations for Seniors Independence Program is affording seniors greater mobility with grants of up to $2,500 for home adaptations. You can install equipment around your home such as easy-to-reach work surfaces in the kitchen, ramps, handrails, walk-in showers, bathtub seats and grab bars. 1999 funds are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
You may qualify if:
  • You are 65 years of age or over;
  • You are a homeowner or renter;
  • Your household income is low;
  • You have difficulty with daily living activities.

Y2K and the Traveller
The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade has published a booklet titled, Journey in Y2K: Advice for Canadians Travelling Abroad.
