Cancelled due to Fire
Due to a fire which destroyed two buildings next door to the Sanderson Centre in Brantford, the Brantford Snowbird Lifestyle Presentation, scheduled for Friday, September 24th, has been cancelled.
The fire, which broke out early in the morning on Saturday, September 11th, completely destroyed two buildings next door to the historic Sanderson Centre and caused extensive damage to the theatre, which was built in 1919.
Sanderson Centre representatives informed Medipac International Communications, producers of the annual event, that the event must be cancelled because of the damage.
"We are disappointed that we will be unable to hold our event at the Centre this year," said Paula Thomson, Operations Manager of Medipac International Communications. "We're happy that the theatre was not destroyed and look forward to holding events there in the future."
Snowbird Lifestyle Presentations are free annual events providing information about the snowbird lifestyle and an entertainment line-up which includes Canadian Country superstar Ronnie Prophet, Cape Breton balladeer Tom Leadbeater, and others. They are sponsored in part by Medipac International Inc. and the Canadian Snowbird Association. The expected attendance for each event is between 500 and 1,000 Canadian Snowbirds.
Other dates for this year's series of events include Centrepointe Theatre in Nepean on Sunday September 19; the Brockville Arts Centre in Brockville on Monday, September 20 and the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga on Thursday, September 23rd.
