Osteoporosis Drugs Tied to Esophageal Cancer   ABC News    -    Sep 04, 2010.    A second look at British registry data indicates that esophageal cancer may be more common after all in patients taking oral bisphosphonate drugs, a type of drug used to treat osteoporosis, for long periods.

Hair may signal pending heart attack   The Globe and Mail    -    Sep 04, 2010.    In the not too distant future, your family doctor may pluck a hair from your head to see if you’re in imminent danger of a heart attack. That’s because your hair contains an accurate record of your body’s production of cortisol – a hormone that surges through your body when you’re under stress. And stress can be the trigger for a potentially deadly cardiac event.

Drinking water before meals helps dieting, says study   BBC News    -    Aug 25, 2010.    Scientists from Virginia found that slimmers can lose an average of 5lb extra if they drink two glasses of water three times a day before meals. They tested the theory on 48 older adults, split into two groups, over 12 weeks. While drinking water can make you feel full on zero calories, say researchers, too much water can also lead to serious health problems.
