Issue 126

Posted date : May 8, 2023

I can read without glasses and see that eagle a mile away, that I could see when I was 18…60 years ago. I should also mention that, during the minor operation, they solve any astigmatism which you may have. Do not delay; if someone says the word “cataract” to you, just get it done. The benefits are enormous.

Posted date : Dec 16, 2021

Our lawyer advised that it would be best to have a U.S. POA done (in the U.S.), as a lot of places do not recognize a Canadian version and won’t allow them to be used. What are your feelings on this?

I-94 Form − problem every time at land border − what can be done?

Posted date : Jul 23, 2021

Is the CSA even aware of the Form I-94, as I never see any articles or questions about it? This form states how long a Canadian can spend in the U.S. and, every time I cross the border, people set it for only 90 days! It is so frustrating! Last time I asked a border security person to make it April 1, and he said that he had “no clue what I was talking about”!?

Dear Bird Talk, On some occasions when returning home after spending the winter months in Texas, we have been greeted by Canadian customs officers at the Sarnia/Port Huron border crossing who made us feel as if we were spoiling their day by being at their booth. This past spring was different, as the young lady […]

Dear Bird Talk, A number of years ago I had an ileostomy, which has rendered it impossible for me to have a rectal digital prostate exam and my only hope for a check-up, was a PSA test. While it is not the cost so much as it is the principle, I find that OHIP will […]

Dear Bird Talk, I read your article about the gentleman who was stopped at Newark because of an old DUI for which he had a Canadian pardon. The offence was from 32 years earlier, but he would require an American waiver. I was alarmed, as we travel to the states frequently and my husband had […]

Dear Bird Talk, Good day. First, keep up the great work on Bird Talk! Very informative. I recently had an auto accident on my way to Florida. While trying to arrange shipment of a second vehicle to Florida, I discovered the murky world of auto shippers. I did consider the drive-down option as advertised in […]

Exit date given by U.S. CBP officer

Posted date : Nov 6, 2017

Dear Bird Talk, I have been given an exit date of March 8, 2015, even though it is far fewer than 182 days for my stay in the U.S. The agent would not tell me why. Is there a way to get this visit extended to April 15? Even though I have never overstayed in […]

Reading issues of CSANews and get quite a bit of valuable information

Dear bird talk, I really enjoy reading issues of CSANews and get quite a bit of valuable information at the same time. I particularly like the bird talk section, where some members ask interesting questions that affect all winter travellers from canada. In the winter 2011 issue, however, a writer took hostile issue with Michael Coren […]
