Passports a Must have for Snowbirds!

Fall 2008 CSANews Issue 68  |  Posted date : Sep 19, 2008.Back to list

It's a redundant reminder, but we just couldn't help ourselves, since it is the eve of the last snowbird season in which passports will not be required to cross the Canada-U.S. border by land. The current date on which Canadians will be required to produce a passport to cross the U.S. border by land is June 2009.

So, if you are a Canadian citizen and you don't have a passport, you can still enter the U.S. by land this fall and winter without one. However, if you are faced with an urgent need to leave the United States on a plane, you will be permitted to do so only if you are able to produce a valid passport at the time of departure.

If you don't have a valid passport, get one! It just makes sense.
