We need more time. Picture this rather simple scene. You are walking down Main Street, filled with an abundance of Thanksgiving turkey, and wearing your Remembrance Day poppy. The shop windows are filled with the holiday spirit of Christmas and they are beckoning you with "advance" Boxing Day sales. Just a minute, now, was that three months that just disappeared, as though it was only an instant?

On an unrelated note, there is a mini-war starting, to lay claim to who is the oldest person in the world. There are many people in several different countries who are striving to beat the world record of 122 years of age. Medical science is on its own path to cure every known disease with new biotechnologies, stem cell implants and wonder drugs. Following a little research, I was surprised to find that pneumonia prevented the majority of those people over 110 from reaching the record age. There has been a pneumonia vaccine available for several years that can prevent 80 to 90 per cent of the strains of pneumonia and my guess is that the age race will become very interesting. Hopefully, you and I will be participants.

We need more time, but we also have to take more time. Time to spend with our families, time to teach our children and grandchildren, time to visit with our friends, and time to reflect on our many blessings in life. As the Christmas holiday season fast approaches, we at Medipac would like to give you our best wishes for a wonderful holiday and an amazing New Year, and the time to enjoy them both.
