In 2006:
  • 27% of households in Canada composted, as opposed to 23% in 1994.
  • Close to six in 10 households used compact fluorescent bulbs.
  • Close to three out of 10 households drank bottled water, whether they had a municipal or private water supply.
  • 60% of Canadian households had a water-saving showerhead, and 41% had a water-saving toilet.
  • Nearly 54% of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions were due to passenger transportation. In 2006, 83% of Canadian households had at least one motor vehicle.
