Bud graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and worked briefly in the oil and gas industry before joining Fluor Canada, the Canadian division of a major international Engineering and Construction company. In his role as Human Resources Director, over the next 40 years, he led a staff of up to 25 people involved in managing all aspects of HR for a company ranging in size from 250 to 2000 people.
Outside of Fluor, he was involved in both the local and National Associations for Engineering industry HR staff. He is a past President of the Human Resources Association of Calgary, one of the precursors of the current Chartered Professionals in HR (CPHR) Association, and sat on the HR Committee of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce.
Following his retirement in 2017, Bud began volunteering with Meals on Wheels Calgary, as well as the Calgary Seniors Resource Center. He has one daughter, and resides in Calgary, Alberta. He spends his winters in Mesa, Arizona.
