Posted date : Nov 4, 2017

Dear Bird Talk, I read with interest the Bird Talk in Summer 2013 issue of CSA News; in particular, page 9. I receive acknowledgement for my annual filings (of Form 8840) by making sure my filing is done with an AR “Advice of Receipt Registered International” which I purchase at my local Canada Post office […]

Dear Bird Talk, When calculating days spent in the U.S. on the form 8840, if a person returns to Canada for two weeks at Christmastime and then returns to the U.S., or if a person is going on a cruise for two weeks on the Panama Canal while they are staying in the U.S., are […]

Days in U.S.

Posted date : May 11, 2022

I go to the U.S. for six months each year and fill out all of the required forms, i.e. 8840. My question is if during those six months in the U.S. I decide to go on a vacation for a week or two to, say, Dominican or Europe, do they take that time into account, which means that I can stay for an extra week or two in the U.S. so that my total days would still equal 182?

Question about how long I can stay in the U.S.

Posted date : Dec 16, 2021

I went to the U.S. on Jan 14, 2021 and returned on July 1, 2021 (total 169 days) and I plan on going back to the U.S. on October 31 for another six months (end of April). Am I allowed to re-enter the U.S., since it would be considered more than 180 days total for 2021?
