What do most snowbirds do about snow tires if you are heading south in January and coming home in May?
Ed.: Most snowbirds do nothing; who wants to own snow tires? Mostly, we are driving on major highways to get to our destinations and they are usually kept very clear. The weather forecast is our greatest aid and no one will set out with any snow either happening or forecast along their route. If you should get caught by a surprise storm, simply hunker down for a couple of days and stay wherever you are. We had a wonderful three-day winter wonderland in the Appalachians a few years ago ? one of our best trips south.
